Main Components:

• Zeiss Axio Observer Z1 main body.
• Eyepiece Pair: Pl 10x/23 with diopter adjustment.
• Two camera ports, one on each side of frame.
• Six place motorized nosepiece turret for holding objective lenses. Has DIC slots under each objective opening.
• Motorized focusing.
• Motorized Condenser, part no. 424244. N.A. 0.55, WD (working distance) 26mm. Includes three phase annuli and three open spaces where DIC prisms could be inserted.
• Motorized reflector cube turret.Holds up to six cubes.
• HAL 100, Halogen transmitted illuminator lamp housing. Model 42 30 00.

Objective Lenses:

• EC Plan-Neofluar. 2.5x / 0.075, infinity/0.17mm. Part# 420320-9901.
• EC Plan-Neofluar. 10x / 0.3, Ph1, infinity/-. Part# 420341-9911.
• LD Plan-Neofluar. 20x / 0.4, Ph2, Korr, infinity/0-1.5mm. Correction collar to adjust for thickness of petri dish. Part# 421351-9970.
• LD Plan-Neofluar. 40x / 0.6, Ph2, Korr, infinity/0-1.5mm. Correction collar to adjust for thickness of petri dish. Part# 421361-9970.

Peripheral Equipment:

• TFT Touch Screen Display in Docking Station. Note: This is missing the cable from the screen to the back of Z1 frame.
• Power Supply 231.This is an external power supply box that powers the Z1 frame. Vero Power model VP231-2, 100V/240V – Autorange, 50-60 Hz. CE certification. Has control cable that goes to back of Z1 frame. Has normal power cord to wall outlet (cord included but not shown).

Epifluorescence Illuminator:

• Metal Halide Illuminator. HXP 120 fiber optic illumination source.Single box has built in power supply, lamp module, and infrared filter. Has motorized brightness switch and shutter that is stepper motor controlled. Missing fiber optic cable that goes from the back of illuminator to the back of Z1 frame. We have an X-Cite fiber optic cable that we substituted when taking the photos. Made in Germany by LEj JENA GmbH. Type LQ-HXP120-z / 100.26C. 100-240 VAC, 50-60 Hz.
• Adapter on back frame of Z1 to fit the fiber optic cable of the HXP 120. Part number 423302-0000.

Fluorescence Filters:

• Includes three filter sets in reflector modules. Condition is like new, with no apparent wear or photo bleaching. We can customize the filters as needed. We can provide any type of fluorescence filter sets since we are a dealer for Chroma. Please specify what your filter needs are.

Shutter:

• Shutter (high speed, external). Mounted to back of Z1 frame in the excitation illumination path. Part No. 423627-9901.
• Shutter Controller Driver. Uniblitz model VCM-D1. Volt selector switch. Manufactured by Vincent Associates, Rochester NY 14625. Missing cable from shutter driver to shutter on back of Z1 frame. Has normal power cord to wall outlet (cord included but not shown).

Motorized XY Stage.

• XY Stage. MarzhauserWetzlar GmbH and Co. Type SCAN IM 130×100 -1mm. Article No. 00-24-546-0000 / 432029-9901. Marzhauser.com.
• XY Stage controller stepper. LudlLEP MAC5000 73005020 PS-SYSTEM. By LUDL Electronics in Hawthorne NY. Voltage 90-260, 50-60 Hz.
• Joystick controller for motorized XY stage. LEP LUDL Electronics p/n 73000362. Description: MA C2 XY JYSTCK DIGPT.
• Ludl Stepper motor cable with right angled plug (qty 2), model 000000-0445-551. Includes two control cables from LEP MAC5000 power box to Marzhauser motorized stage, one for X and one for Y movement.
• Includes three different sets of stage mounting frames for holding different types of petri dishes and plates.

Photography Camera Equipment:

• Zeiss AxiocamMRm. R3.0. Monochrome camera. Part No. 426509-9901.Zeiss selling price over USD $8400.This is the firewire version. It is missing the firewire cable that goes to the computer, but that is an inexpensive item to obtain.
• Includes c-mount adapter, 60N-C 1” 1.0x, No. 426114.
• Zeiss AxiocamMRc. R3.1. Color camera. Part No. 426508-9901. Zeiss selling price over USD $6300.Carl Zeiss Microimaging GmbH. This is the firewire version. It is missing the firewire cable that goes to the computer, but that is an inexpensive item to obtain.
• Includes c-mount adapter, 60N-C 1” 1.0x, No. 426114.

Computer and Software:

• Computer not included. Cable to go from back of Z1 frame to computer is included. User will need to buy Zeiss Zen software for controlling the microscope via the computer. The Zen software will also operate the Axiocamcameras. Computer and software are not included.

History:

• This instrument came from the recently shuttered Novartis facility in Horsham, Sussex, England.
• The pharmaceutical company shut down this site in 2014 and all equipment was sold. We were fortunate to have acquired this late model Zeiss equipment from their sale. This is not and old piece of equipment that was broken, and sold off, as is often the case with used laboratory instruments.

Upgrade to Confocal:

• If you need to do confocal microscopy, then you will need a fully motorized microscope such as this Zeiss Z1. We partner with a company who specializes in Confocal. Please contact us for details about how a confocal system can be added.
